i traded an 08 R6 for my 6R. i loved the power, it was so light, and stopped on a dime but it was not comfortable to ride at all.

i do miss the strong pull up to 16,000 rpms but i use my 6R to commute every day.

never regretted the trade.

I've rode a 09 R6 and yes the power is awesome, the riding position didn't bother me much but my fz6 is much more comfortable for everyday riding. The power on the fz6 is very similar to the R6 just with a little more grunt on the bottom end and not as intense of a pull from 8k+. Plus it redlines at 14k but the power really starts to drop off about 13250 so I plan on getting some R6 cams eventually for it so it will pull all the way to redline.

I'd like to ride a FZ6R too so I can see what kind of differences there are between it and my bike.

Test rode the 2012 R6 at the local dealership yesterday during a Yamaha demo day. All I can say is WOW!!! The engine in that bike is AMAZING!! It is indescribable what is happening at high revs in that motor. At 9K or 10K, the power is building so rapidly and smoothly it makes you grin ear to ear. This happens all the way to a redline of 16500. I wish we could have that engine in the 6r, that way we could keep our riding position. The SS riding position is a little too much for me... but that motor...WOW again.
You sort of CAN do this... Get the R6 and call SpieglerUSA to get the handlebar conversion kit then an adjustable pair of rearsets... Spielger has the -06 -'10 kit here but don't know if this would appy to the '12? Spiegler Performance Parts - Handlebar Conversion Kit

I love my R6! Crazy power over 10k. Thing screams to 16.5k readline. It's awesome. Nice and light, you can just flick it through the corners. Not as comfy as fz but I have no issues doing 8+ hour rides on it.

It's crazy the power differences betweeen 2 600 CC ENGINES.

i thought the yellow/black was a fav color combo, until i saw the white/red "retro" - that's one of the best looking ever

Just test drove a 2011 675R after spending 2 years on the 6r...what an amazingly huge difference in riding position that was...i didnt think it was going to be that cramped, but it was...one comment tho, that bike was like nothing i had ever ridden before, haha.

Ninja 1000 has both the power and the riding comfort... Only ~20 lb heavier than FZ6R.
a Lamborghini has both power and comfort... only $200k more than a motorcycle

you're kinda all over the place with the bikes, now you mention an R6 but you said "Ninja 1000 has both the power and the riding comfort... Only ~20 lb heavier than FZ6R."

You might have confused me with someone else, or misread one of my previous posts. I don't think I've ever mentioned the R6. I think the Ninja 1000 is a very good option for stepping up because it offer much more power without sacrificing the riding comfort.
