Free 5 minute exhaust mod

I rode to work today with the new mod and was very happy with it. For putting just a 3/8 inch hole in the pipe, it sure has made this bike sound great. It sounds so much more appropriate now. Lost that angry weed wacker sound and now its got that nice low rumble and a little more dB's...but, not too much. I also didn't notice and loss or gain of power. Bike seems to run just as good as it always has, but sounds so much better. Its just right to me. I think the TB would have been too much noise (and $$) for me. This mod was great. I love it and wish I would have done it sooner.

man, free mod. I just can't refuse it! I finally did it too. Only, I only made a 1/2 inch hole. Still, it does make a lower tone grumbling noise. Already a significant change enough that the engine whine is turned into a moderate grumble. I like it a lot. Thank you for this mod!
:thumbup:

Again, would a juicebox be helpful with this mod?

Is it worth getting a juice box if not modding?

::bump::

Anthony,, I have the stock exhaust on my bike but,,,IMHO I do not think that the expense is worth it unless you add a after market exhaust. I am pretty sure that the stock computer can handle a 1/2 inch hole drilled in the stock pipe,,but when you change the whole exhaust(No converter) you need a fuel management system (Juice Box,Juice Box Pro or PCV) to compensate for the lean fuel mixture that is generated by the exhaust change.

Marthy i dont notice any more popping with it , im still thinking about making the hole bigger or just go aheading and adding the bigger tip until i can afford a complete set up.

Welp, I did it... took a while to get a hole started, ended up scraping a bit of the inside (lol)... anyways, it sounds very different at low rpms but when riding it doesn't seem to sound any different from my angle... Anyways, I am happy I did it, so long as it doesn't mess anything up in the long run =]

5 Min Exhaust Mod....

So I have read every thread I can Find on this Exhaust Mod....I will most likely buy a real exhaust but until I have the Money I was thinking about trying to enlarge the inner hole.

At this Point I am looking for sound!!!

My Questions are how many People have done this and has anyone had any issues....What size hole have most People used or have you just opened this up to the full Diameter of the Pipe. and Last will this affect emissions inspection of the Bike.

Bottom line should I save my money for a while longer and try this Mod !!

Thanks Everyone for all the Great Info!!!
