Guys, I dont know what part you have bought, but I went to my yamaha shop today asking about it and they told me I would have to buy the whole assembly as they don't come individually.

That being said, I got home, took the fairing off the left hand side, got in to the restrictor, unscrewed it from the throttle body (I think thats what it was screwed in to anyway), unhooked throttle cables from the pulley, got my set of bolt cutters, lopped off the nob bit at the end of the bracket that restricts the throttle and took it for a spin.

Its like a brand new bike! man I love it now.

I am new to bikes and assume the process for cars applies.... In Australia to transfer ownership of a vehicle you also need a Road Worthy Certificate. Any modifications to a Learner Approved Motorbike Scheme (LAMS) bike is forbidden, especially ones that increase power/acceleration.

Should a police officer discover this modification (extremely unlikely) or a Department of Transport officer find it (high chance of discovery, very little chance to actually be in this position though) the bike would be deemed un-roadworthy and I would not be allowed to ride it until rectified, plus fines.

So while I am more than happy to modify the bike and run the risks as they are minimal. I want to be able to return it to stock condition should I need to or when I trade/sell it.

So modifying the bracket or the stopper on the throotle body is easy to do, neither really allows to easily revert back to stock condition. This is why I would like to buy a bracket for the throttle body from an XJ6 which I can source locally, or one from a US spec FZ6R which I would need to import.
Is the bike actually registerred as a "XJ6SL" or "XJ6S"?
If it is "XJ6SL" I would think that they can trace the restriction back to this model, but if it just "XJ6S", how could it be linked to be a illegal mod, as the XJ6S is not restricted?

On the Vicroads list of LAMS bikes, the model is XJ6SL, so you could be caught out if the rego says the same...

Registered as an XJ6F which only comes as a LAMS model.

Thanks!

This is for the XJ6:
I have attached the required instructions for fitment (and thus removal) of the 25kW Restrictor Kit.
Part number is: KIT-XJ609-25-KW (Ingenious!)

It has pretty pictures for comparison also.

Regards!

Can be found in larger sizes at:

XJ6 25KWRestrict P2 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!
This is fantastic! I bought my bike with the intention of derestricting it once I got my full license so I wouldn't have to purchase a new bike to keep up with me!

Hey Drew -just order what you can find through the states, with the Aussie dollar where it is -it is sooo much cheaper than going through stores here (Sorry local shops...) and saves heaps of time looking around.

If you loook under FZ6R parts from most suppliers there you should be okay as the bike has an identical frame, to be certain there are pdf pages showing exploded component charts for each bike. If you have trouble pm me & I can email them to you
