YSR50 racing?

My eBay auction is about to end and with the $$, I'm buying a used but serviceable YSR 50. It is street legal, needs a complete repaint so I can do something really cool with it and I'm gonna start racing it. Apparently it was raced at some point and has most of the safety wiring already done and lots of new parts.

We have a track and a club for monthly races nearby and there are classes of all types with all the mods covered. This will be left pretty stock so I can race in the old fart stock class. With a top speed of about 60ish I should be able to keep from getting killed and the corners are usually less than 40 mph so WTF.

Power Ranger suit on and here we go..of course I'll be running a vid cam the whole time....When I wreck, I want to show the Doctor why it hurts...LOL....

I remember those. I was about 16 when they came out. I use to have a Honda MB5 (49.9cc) and used to cream those all day long in 4th gear (the bike had 5 speed gearbox) But didn't look as nice as the yammy. Have fun and show us some pics

Here you go Mate. I had to find the picture and scan it. This is me back in the days (1986) about 15 y.o. That was the fastest 49.9 cc in the hood! Thrust me, they all try to kick my ass, but no luck. I clock 70 mph one, no down hill, no draught, maybe a little tail wind. Miss that bike... wish I kept it.

Ya those Honda's really screamed as did the Yamaha 80's that they built to kill them off.
They put all kinds of engines in these things. Yerbas...125 and 250 yamaha.
I saw one with an RD400 engine in it....
I just want a stock 50 or 60cc roadracer...

My brother had a YSR back in high school. It had a RM-80 2-stroke motor in it. We clocked it at 93MPH.
