I just saw the most insane thing I've ever witnessed on a public highway.
I was driving south to Richmond, just about 10 miles south of Fredericksburg, on interstate 95. I'm in the fast lane, doing 80 in my SUV. When all of a sudden some squid on a yellow sportbike hurtles past me doing triple digit speeds...and he passes me on the shoulder!
Oh, not squidly enough for you? HE WAS GOING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION!!!!!!!
I couldn't believe it. I'm pretty sure he was fleeing the law. For those unaware, I95 is 3 lanes in each direction, but the directions are separated by a huge wooded divider. Short roads connect the two sides that are for cops and emergency vehicles only. He must have crossed over to avoid cops, and was going 100+ the wrong way down a one way freeway. On the shoulder. The I95 shoulders are pretty rough, littered with semi truck blown tire debris, and feature rumble strips the entire way.
Going the wrong direction, adding our speeds, it was probably over 200 MPH hurtling past me. Freaked me out big time, as it did every other driver on the road.
I'm still in disbelief.
