Winter Prep?

so i live in Colorado and winter has been on the lame side so far this year...(only half an inch and its already the middle of December) anyways, i was wondering when winter actually does roll around, what should i do to my bike? I got my bike this summer and previously have never owned a bike before, or know what to do with it over winter as well...? I do have a garage and that is where it will stay for the winter months, but do i need to do anything will its not in use for 3 months? Take off the spark plugs, have an empty tank..ect?

So if you guys wouldn't mind helping out a novice rider, it would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

I personally just connect it to a battery tender and fill the tank with the recommended amount of stbilizer for the amout of fuel left and run it a little to get it mix and worked into the engine then let her sit. I may start it up every few weeks and move it around a little to make sure i don't get any flat spots...although i never did it with my vStar :\

search for winter storage... lots of good info..

crash course:
1) run a tank of gas with sea foam added to "prep", clean out all water, etc.
2) two choices,
a)drain the tank and "spray it" with sea foam (follow their dir.),
b)keep it filled with gas and stabil. Empty next season and run fresh fuel.
-both of these are meant to keep the interiors from rusting or seizing up.
3) pull the battery and keep it in a warm location.. if garage is heated, you're fine.
4)get a battery tender and charge the battery for a couple of hours each week
5) Change the oil before storing. change it before riding after storage (if it sits for 3-4 months).
6) store on stands, or simply rotate the wheels once a week so they don't sit in one spot, also, fill to max psi recommended for tire to help as well.
