I need to get gear. I am a new rider go eight miles to work and eight back backroads. Just a helmet although I did order a new pair of gloves. I ride within my means but can't control what others do. Thankfully so far in the three weeks I've been riding I have been relatively lucky.

Jon, you've lived in NOVA long enough to know there are 2 reasons why you wont get waved back: 1) in this traffic, if you take a hand off the bar, you might eat it. 2) It's NOVA, people are dicks! Get out in to the country and people will wave across a 15 yard wide median...so basically, dont ride in Fairfax, PWC, or Loudoun, and people will wave.

its a shame i live in PWC XD bahaha most of my good rides are out near locust grove though.... thats where my best friend lives

I don't know why you took such offense to my post, but I wasn't trying to be a dick. You definitely gotta give it more time you'll get plenty of waves back. Sometimes you'll just get head nods.

I had a guy next to me in a Raven, all beat up, wearing shorts, t-shirt, and a helmet. I nodded at him, he didn't wave or nod. We were in the same lane and all. That struck me funny.

Since my ankle got hurt I'm not riding a lot due to my foot still hurts a little. When I ride I go up north to go to work using side streets (believe or not) is faster than highways.

I use side streets in the morning too, 5 minutes faster then hoping onto 287 and then 1. I just get onto 1 off stelton.

Damn, I wasn't expecting that one. I thought I was a big dude at 2xl. Me and my friends are working on loosing the weight though. We all need to get back down to reasonable sizes. I hope you can find a way to work on that was well.
