I have had a mysterious line show up on my BT-023 tires. At first I thought it was a protrusion on the bike rubbing against the tire. It looks like a seam line caused by the molding process. If you run your finger nail against you can tell it is an indentation grove approximately a thousand of an inch.
In my April 2014 edition of Motorcyclist Magazine (page 69) there is a column by Jerry Smith called “Answers” who answered this question for another reader. It is an “Antenna Tread” compound. The purpose of which is to dissipate static electricity and all tires have it.
