What are you listening to right now? (with links)

The local national radio station aimed at young adults, Triple J has started it's voting for the Hottest 100. This is claimed to be the biggest music poll in the world (who knows). It is somewhat of a icon amongst anyone under probably 35.

It is pretty alternative. Voting is on music released in the year 2011 and music played by the station (ie no commercial pop stuff).

The radio station plays the top 100 counted, down to the winner on the Australia day public holiday (26 January). Many young people celebrate the national day by drinking with friends, BBQ and Hottest 100. It is one of my favourite days of the year. My 2011 Aussie/Triple J day.

The Gotye song will win by a landslide. Over here it is one of those songs that transcends commercial radio and alternative radio (TripleJ).

Most commercial releases are pretty much ignored by this community. If you look at the list there is not a mention of the likes of Beyonce or Lady Gaga etc.

As stated previously bought myself a Traktor Kontrol S4 to start having a play around with digital DJing. Something I have wanted to do for many, many years. Got the S4 some time ago, but had no way of listening to it, so hadn't had much of a play with it.

Last week I received my monitors, some M-Audio BX8's to go with it. But the amp on one was shagged so I have had to send it back for a replacement. So with my one speaker I thought I would finally have a crack.

Bare with me hear. I am very, very new to this. Having really only laid my hands on this thing a few times, and this is the first mix that I put any effort into.

I think it was a pretty good start. Is a very, very simple mix as I haven't really sussed out the sampling capabilities, nor do I know what I am doing.

Starts with some Electro-House, but moves onto some Progressive House mid way which is more my thing.
