Topcase on back seat

I saw this on another forum and I'm seriously considering it. He ordered an additional rear seat so he could permanently attach it and when he takes it off he puts the extra seat back on. (did that even make sense?) He says it works great. Since all my long trips are solo, I really like this idea. It's essentially a hard tail bag.

I never wanted a top case because I didn't want to leave the bracket on all the time and I run my soft saddlebags under the seat so I could still use them like I always have.

Thanks for the link Don! I'm on the "love it" side of that mod. New pillion seats run aboutr $150 new, I'll find a used one before I order a case. Brilliant in my opinion.

The cheap cases on ebay come with a mounting bracket that can be mounted to our grab bar. So you can get the case and mount it while waiting for the spare passenger seat. details:

yes, if you are riding without a passenger, this is a nice way to get lockable storage.... and a back rest if you want!

look for wrecked bike sales... no sense buying a new seat just to drill holes in it.

I'm still using my soft cortech luggage, just so I get my money's worth out of it... but thinking my winter mods list will include at least a hard top case... since the wife doesn't ride with me often, this is def. a route I've considered.
