I seriously think I am turning green & my shirt is being ripped by my bicep as I type...I can't scream the number of curse words I am feeling....

I completely understand that one.

Golds gym customer service is horrid. Check the BBB....they billed me for two years while I weekly submitted cancelation requests. It was different every time. "Email this person, oh you have to call this number, ok yeah we got it taken care of, oh they didn't do it?"....same bullshit with lockers. The one I was at they remodeled the locker room while I was on vacation(15 days) and I came back to all of my shit gone. Gloves water bottle supplements and proton, heart rate monitor my support belts and wraps. I got nothing but a shrug as a response

Completely crappy deal and I feel for you, but I feel compelled to point out that the "whore" at the other location is just someone's wife or daughter doing a crappy job for crappy pay. She didn't close your gym, she didn't take your stuff, and she most likely was as surprised as you to find out your gym had closed. Believe it or not, most large multinational corporations don't consult the minimum wage employees before strategy decisions. I'd be willing to bet everyone up to the manager of that location had no warning and just showed up to a locked building and no job one morning. I have seen it happen more than once in cases of large chain companies closing a location. I personally know a woman who managed a clothing store next door to one of my parents' businesses for almost 20 years and she showed up to a locked empty store one morning. No warning, no job, no nothing.

I completely understand your frustration and it is completely founded, but direct the anger where it belongs; to the greedy suit in a boardroom somewhere who decided it would be more efficient to carry on like normal and then just pull the rug out. Imagine if your wife had to bear the brunt of some pissed off customer berating her about something she had nothing to do with. I bet you'd rip the dude's head off. Call head office, and keep your tongue in check for at least the first 3 people you talk to. At least then you'll be screaming at someone who is at a pay grade to begin to deserve it.

Good luck with it all; I hope they at least give your crap back to you.

Fair enough. I managed restaurants for a long time, and saw a lot of abuse first hand. When you're at the bottom of the food chain sometimes you get the shaft from both sides. Of course, sometimes you earn it too, right?

Have you called their corporate offices? No way I would let that go. They stole your stuff and money.

Had a similar issue w/ Ballys a few yrs back (ok a lot of yrs now) anyway they finally refunded me.
I would not let it go, as for the 2yrs payment, as for your stuff in locker... your prolly just gonna be SOL.

PS- Never pay more than 1 mo again... it maybe more to do every month, but you won't be out hundreds suddenly too!!

Sorry to hear about the loss of stuff and prepay.

Unfortunately for the pre-pay, they will probably say that because there are other clubs availabile within "x" radius, your contract transfers to them. This happened to one of my wifes relatives at a fitness place. For the stuff in the locker, I hate to say that you are probably sol on that also. I would however, try to find the corporate "contact us" and call them and see what they can do to resolve the loss of personal property. Then ask for a supervisor 1-3 times to work your way up as needed. I definately understand being angry, but remember you catch more flies with honey! Be nice and respectfull and you might get a little better deal.

On a side note: after hearing of issues like this and paying for my own gym membership feeling like I was losing money, I got my own stuff. I went out and got a high quality exercise bike and a Weider version of the bowflex in my basement with a tv and my DVR. Now I can be at home with my *kids (dogs & cats) and working clearing the dvr of shows I want WHILE I work out. Ultimately saving money, getting more time home and stuff done. I may not get all the variety of the gym, but a bowflex like device does allot!
That's probably the best bet for anyone anymore. In the long run it's probably far cheaper to do this rather than pay constantly for a place that will just screw you over at the first chance possible.

I like the gym atmosphere though. I like the socializing, the motivating speech's we give each other, Being able to get a spot, ect, ect...

I can certainly understand that. I do miss working out with the people that I served with back in the day.

There is something to it.

For me though, once I can start to afford the time and money, I will start slowly building my home gym again. My friends like to work out as well and many of them have home gyms setup and f they didn't live so far from me I would work out with them. If I set one up for myself though I know they will stop at my place and work out here with me as several of them have to pass my house to get to work.

So it works for me. lol.

IDK, your next alternative is to just have a group of friends that like fitness like yourself come to your home and workout together with each other. Could be rather mutually beneficial for all of you. They donate to funds for you to get certain equipment for your home setup and you guys rock it out.

It's an idea to ponder...

I worked out at my new Gym today. Funny how many Golds people also ended up joining the same gym. The new gym is nice.... Almost to nice. It even smells kinda nice. I guess that would be cool if it was something other than a GYM! BUT A GYM IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SMELLY PLACE WHERE MEN LIFT HEAVY THINGS & PUT THEM DOWN! THEY LIFT HEAVY THINGS & PUT THEM DOWN...

Sigh.....Carry on...
This warrants:
