Sticky ignition switch

I'm having a problem getting my key into the ignitin. It takes a lot of effort to get the key all the way in and turn the bike on. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to clean and lubricate the switch ? Thanks

Spray some dry lube such as graphite into it. Should fix the problem.

Cheap way of doing this: Get a #2 pencil and run the tip on the key. Put the key in the ignition and run it up and down a few times.

A friend of mine recommended a product called Du Pont Teflon non-stick dry-film lubricant. Anybody have any experience with this product?

I tried some dry graphite about a month ago. Corrected the problem for a little while, but it's starting to stick again. I was hoping to find something that would last a little longer.

WD-40. This has fixed a few ignition switches for me over the years.

Thanks guys. I have tried the graphite and it did work, it just didn't last too long. I'll try the WD-40 and see how that works.

I'd stick with dry lube, unless you like oil in your pocket.

Use electric contact cleaner, let it evaporate, then hit it with some dry graphite. If things are sticking bad, try cleaning with the contact cleaner again and tap on the face with a tack hammer. Try not to use anything that leaves a film that will just attract dust.

I'm noticing this a bit with mine. But i live in Canada and it's January so everything is basically frozen
