After reading about it I finally did it. I used a 1 1/2" hole saw and punched a hole in each side of the bottom.

First impression: I don't really ride aggressively so I haven't much experience with how it felt before, but I detected a hint more power....maybe? Felt like it pulled a wee bit harder mid-range and top end. Throttle response may have been a tad better too. Bike rolled off from lights the same but when I throttled hard at about 6K RPM, there was no hesitation, seemed crisper.

I have a Marthy Supertrapp (and Juicebox) and it is louder. There is a drone cruising between 4000-5000 rpm that seems more pronounced than before. Not a deal breaker for sure.

I realize I mentioned "seemed" and "felt" alot but there is no way for me to truly quantify if my observations. With the tiny size of the airbox inlet, logically I feel that the engine should breathe better with less restriction, thus more power?.....

No regrets. Even if the minuscule bit of power I feel like I got is physiological it still made me grin.

I will try to get around to posting how i cut my air box. I cut mine simular to marthys but with more material removed.

How did you make these holes?

Hello, I've done this mod, and it seems the bike is running hotter, has anyone else noticed it?
No reason for any temp increase, unless you didn't get the plenum (air box) back on the throttle bodies correctly and it is sucking air around the rubber boots, which would cause a surging idle and bad throttle response.
Doing this MOD will not lean out the bike past ECU adjustment parameters unless you get the air box askew.
