Anyone know why I would only get audio from one speaker from my SMH5 bluetooth connected to my Galaxy S4? I have the large speakers as well as the regular ones (just got them today). I am connected for media and phone and I know my phone is Bluetooth 4.0 compliant (as well as previous modes). I got frustrated as I couldn't find anything on Google, but I am still looking. Thanks in advance...

That is annoying as hell. I was riding this morning and one of my ear-buds fell out of my ear the freeway at about 80. I think I am going to go get a bluetooth set up today.

Mine was like that with the small speakers that came original. The upgraded speakers didn't have that problem

Still can't figure it out, but I haven't had time to work on the problem. I did upgrade the firmware per Barry's (BKP) recommendation with no luck and reset the unit. Also paired with my Plantronics Backbeat 903 Bluetooth headphones without this issue. I don't think the unit is damaged or the speakers, but cannot get my head wrapped around this yet. More input would be appreciated.

Yeah, don't get it. Also my skullcandy earbuds work fine as well (wired). Seems like the Sena is using a mono bluetooth profile but I'm not sure how to verify this. I really don't want to send them back. I literally just opened the package which was packed very well.

Does Sena have a customer support number? If so, it might be worth giving them a call before sending it back.
ETA: With that said, it sounds to me like the hardware is fine. I'm guessing a config issue of some type.

My phone (Droid razr maxx) has separate eq settings for BT, phone speaker etc
If your getting full stereo from another device and or w ur earbuds plugged into phone.. then I'm thinking there is some setting for BT sound in there needs to be tweaked.

I'll take a look. I know I am outputting stereo to my other bluetooth headphones which is what makes me think it's not the phone, but I'll take a looksie.

After dicking around with it some more I think I have found the problem. There appears to be a bent pin on the speaker inputs micro usb port on the smh5 unit. Not sure this is the culprit 100%, but it's as good a reason as any. Guess I have to send it back for exchange.

Got my replacement smh5 today from Amazon and I was right, a pin on the speaker connection of the unit was damaged. Now just got to install it in my helmet.
Have had a ton of problems with my smh5's dual setup. My wife's one constantly does weird stuff and has to be reset, seems her battery isn't lasting long either anymore. We haven't even had these a full season!

I don't go on real long rides and it's mostly for music and if I get a call. Maybe you got a factory defect too. Mine sounds great with the larger speaker upgrade. Haven't tested on the road yet though.
The larger speakers are better than the small, but lack true full range sound, which is fine.
I have sent in my wifes unit, they "repaired" it but it still does weird stuff. Mine lasts a month on a charge, her's lasts a few rides.

Wow, a month? What do you do with yours? Yeah I knew they wouldn't sound as good as my skullcandy earphones. Clear sound though.

Maybe you can get hers replaced if they didn't fully fix them. I contacted their customer service as well as Amazon and both were amazing. Amazon got me the new unit in a matter of like 2 days. Helps that the warehouse it shipped from is right next to my work (about 20 miles from my house).
I use it for Phone calls, very rarely music, and navigation.
Yea I may try after the season, they just want to repair it again. I had a second ticket open with them for this but decided to wait till after the season and deal with resetting it when necessary.

The *only* time I had any issue at all, was when I upgraded firmware without following up with a factory reset. Sena support got me straight with that, and said they'd be including that last step in follow-on User Guides.
As for charging, I've been on four and five hour rides, without the unit showing any sign of slowing down, however, I'm pretty religious about charging it after an aggregate of about five hours (can't imagine not charging it for a month).
The fidelity of the speakers certainly isn't that of a pair of KEF speakers, but for $15, I've got no complaints...

Thanks Barry, when I saw the one pin pushed back inside I didn't think it was supposed to be like that, but now I know it wasn't. May have been bent and when I put the speaker harness in I pushed it back. Can't wait to get it on my helmet.
