Possible New FZ6R

Hey guys

Been looking for a new bike and decided on an FZ6R mostly because of this site, great resource. Thanks.

Anyways found one close to me on the CL and wanted to see if you had any advice for me, since this is my first sport bike purchase. (Upgrading from Virago 250 after about a year and a half.)
Its a 2012, black, 10k miles. New tires, sounds decent, running a little rich because, I think, (and here's my real question) its heavily modified.

mods......its got a new exhaust slip-on, cat is cut off and bypassed, a power commander, new HID headlights (improperly installed- he said it needs to be rewired to pass inspection), new led tail light section with integrated turn signals, lowered 2 inches in the front, new mirrors, and he said its been plasti-dipped 3 times. Green paint residue is now ingrained into the tank and frame. Frame sliders are obviously scraped hard, but the bar ends are new, and the mirrors and brake lever show evidence of dropping, not sliding.

Guy seems nice, more or less mature, seems to take good care of his other vehicle, too. Isn't shy about telling me he cruised at 90 once and took it to 115 a couple of times.

But is such an obviously modified bike worth it? I know sport bikes are meant to be ridden hard, but how hard is too hard?

Not many people paint their bike the same color 3 times for fun. That bike has been down a lot. Unless you are getting an insanely good deal, I would pass on it. You can find one thats in better condition.

Pretty much agree. The various mods seem shabby from your description. It could turn into a real can of worms for you. Best to keep on looking, IMO

Yeah, that's my bike. These guys on here will vouch for me, I can give you the names of a bunch of guys that have ridden with me too. I've taken very good care of the bike and I was as honest as I could be.

Sorry if I was a little out of it when you came by. I was running on very little sleep and didn't realize I had walking pneumonia....

To clear up a few things:

I've taken excellent care of this bike, anyone on this board who has met me will tell you that. If I didn't have a second kid on the way it wouldn't be for sale at all.

I definitely wouldn't say heavily modified. It has an exhaust with corresponding power commander to maximize power and reliability. Everything else is cosmetic.

Bar ends actually aren't new. I tried clip ons, didn't like them, swapped back. I'm guessing you saw the inside of the hex wasn't 100% perfect, that's because they had to be impacted off.

I do have the headlight wired up the way I want it with halo instead of low beam, but it is something I can make pass inspection with under an hour's work.

Yeah, I've dipped the bike a few times but the factory paint is in excellent condition and I've always taken great care to paint it and everyone who saw it thought it was real paint. It does have some green around the gas cap ring, something I could remove and take care of in 5 minutes with some paint thinner.

The exhaust was built by Marthy, pretty much our founder, and is a quality piece, not some DIY. I'm running the same map most people on here are, something Marthy spent a lot of time and pride making. The bike was cold, of course it seemed rich. At temp the map is setup perfectly for the bike.

Yeah, I've ridden it 80 or 90 on the highway for distance, but lots of people have. For this bike and this engine that's no problem at all - I'm sure the mechanics and guru guys will chime in. I've passed 100 very briefly a couple times, but even that isn't going to blow these bikes up.

Yeah in that case I change my vote, if its this guys bike I'd go for it, I've seen some of his youtube videos and it looks like he cares about his bike quite a bit.
