Opinion: New Helmet?

You're right, sunglasses don't work. The cheek pads are tighter than that little outfit on CC's UPS girl...

Don't waste your money on any other shields and just get the Transitions. You won't regret it. If you think about it, it's either fork over $120 now, or $40-60 now and another $120 later. You won't replace the Transitions unless it chips or you wreck. Plus, it fits the RS-1 and Star models if you ever want to upgrade.

You make a very solid point. Regarding getting chipped, don't I remember somebody (probably CC) saying something about the transitions being a little more resistant to scratching and chipping?

It seems pretty good to me. I will admit that I fumbled my helmet from about 6 inches off the ground and some asphalt slightly chipped the far left side of the shield. It still seems like it's much higher quality than any other shields I've seen.

Get the transition. You will wish every helmet you could buy had the option after you use it

I use mirrored on my Scorpion Exo 400 and love them. Great during the day and provide enough shading to make it comfortable but not so dark that riding in twilight is unsafe. I've ridden at night with it, because I got delayed from my original plan and didn't have my clear, and it works just fine. I don't do that except when its unexpected.

If I think I am going to cut it close, I'll wear the clear with a set of sunglasses underneath to make sure I'm covered in both lights.

I have the exact same setup and agree completely.

Might as well bite the bullet then. Transition shield ordered from MSS. Thanks guys!

When for a ride to test the helmet again...

Well, all i had in stock was a yellow and green sponge... was good enough for R&D...lol It did help quite a bit to kill the noise. I'll redo it tomorrow with proper foam material. The other thing is the exhaust vent right behind the ears... that need to be blocked! I did notice it when turning my head. There's a big difference if I put my finger over the opening when I turn my head, crazy more quite!

So once I fix those 2 things this helmet will be a keeper! Much more stable at highway speed (no wiggles) and very decent ventilation. Might still be a little more noisy than the AGV XR-2, but for 1/3 of the price... I'll put ear plugs!

Marhy, I have the Bell Vortex Greaser and really like everything about the helmet but the noise, and my hearings not perfect...too many years working on equipment in the mine.
I have the uclear speakers in my helmet that take up space in the ear cavities and they didnt quiet it down any, I also used tape on the lower vents...that helped a little, but not a huge difference. I noticed that if I put my hand near the neck roll on either side the sound level lowers significantly. My helmet is a 2xl and fits snug..it would almost fit over a basketball :) But the size may change the aerodynamics.
