one day mileage

Thank you.

Another member from here was behind me. When you move back let me know and will ride sometime.
About my riding skill, well... I'm still a greenhorn, 7000 miles of riding under the belt, so I still have a LOT to learn, but every time I get a chance to go riding I do a little better, so I'm progressing :))

I'm no veteran rider either. Only 8500 miles on the FZ6R and she's my first. :o I just like watching other people's videos and compare them to my own riding abilities and then share what I learn. Any little tip helps, and the more we share, the more we grow.

Even as much as I enjoy riding, some of these posts make me hurt just reading them. Those are some tough rides.

+1 I get sore after about 150 miles and I have to pull over to relax for about 10 - 20 minutes.

That being said though my highest in one day is about 130 miles to. Then another 130 back in a few hours.

Would love to take a road trip like many of you have but my problem is:
1. I don't have money for hotels
2. I don't have many friends spread out in different cities and states

So the only other option is to camp out, but I don't think it would be possible to strap a tent to a motorcycle.

hey, strapping a tent on is absolutely do-able. when i go into europe, i always take a tent, slepeing bag etc and mix camping with hostels and hotels. Nice variety, keeps costs down and gives good flexibility. For example in Bavaria, Southern germany camping is great as the region is full of picture book villages with lots of fresh alpine air. Berlin in East Germany, i use a hostel (Generator hostel) as its cheap (15 euros/night) and means i can have fun in Berlin (great sights, living history and night-life).

I wish i could post up a pic of my FZR1000 completely swathed in soft luggage waiting to return to England. I'll be off soon on the XJ6, but it will be easier as i have hard luggage.

Get out there and do it - i once heard someone (an old-boy) say the only true motorcycling was touring; of course it's all good but touring is really something else. You guys in the US and Canada have some great places to run to.

today i just finished my trip 2900km/1800 miles in five days but i put over 1000 km/620 miles on today in 11 hours. only have 4900 km on my stock fz6r.i still feel pretty good except my knees are tight, but pretty proud that i made it that far today.and as for the tent question i was looking for luggage for my bike and came across this video, pretty good example about how much you can do with this bike, he has everything he needs for over a week on his fz6r.

Off-roading the FZ6R!!! NICE!!

I parked with a bunch of motorcycles when my wife and I went to watch the fireworks on Sunday. There was a bike there that had a tent strapped to the topcase. So it is definitely doable.

Well the longest ride I took was aprox. 1100 miles in 21 hours. Schaumburg IL to Nashville TN via I-65, then back to Schaumburg IL via I-55. Caught a bad storm on the way back. On weekends when I can go riding I'm averaging 250-300 miles a day, depending where we going.

Yup. We did the 1100 mile trip together.

Seems like most weekends Heineken and I ride together... lots and lots of miles. :p

Philly - Toronto

I did roughly 800 kms in one day (500 miles)... fully laden w/ a tank bag, tail bag and back pack. I never understood saddle sores until then. My ass still hurts just thinking about it.

as for the knee problem i made custom pegs

i seen those i would love to move my stock pegs back about an inch, i was thinking the same thing as you on the pegs not sure what to use to make them or where to attach them, i really dont want to lose any lean angle at all as i am right to my stock pegs. the only real complaints that i found with my bike after that many miles in one day is that the windshield is too low especially for stormy/gusty, high wind days, seat is a bit hard, and my poor choice of luggage.all gonna get fixed when as the budget allows.but i feel that many miles is a true test to how well rounded the bike is, as i was dragging pegs at times when the road/conditions allowed, rode for 1500km in rain storms, nearly 1000 miles! no issues other than one big slide in downtown kamloops as i got a little over exuberant with the throttle merging, but that is rider more than bike.

my wind shield is odd looking .but im to old to put up with the wind at 70mph . i did it for many of years , but its so nice with it on there . as for the pegs , i have a bad hip so i need to stretch out . yup sucks getting old . but im having a blast:D:D:D

Hey B, how you like the video?

Its a great video... but I'm tired of watching his @$$. I think it would have been a little better if you had gotten behind the rest of us... a video of a half dozen riders is a lot better than just of Martin. ;)

*Plus then you can have proof of how crappy my cornering is and laugh at me - LOL

My longest ride so far has been about 130 miles. My fiance and I took a run up to Moraine State Park and had lunch by the lake, rode around a bit, then rode home. We're taking a trip to Juniata/Raystown on Sunday. Should double that number or be close to it. I gotta get used to riding that long in a mostly straight line. I'm more used to riding twisties for hours at a time while I'm sliding back and forth across the seat.
