What can I say - I loved one, hated the other.
If you are at all familiar with Twin engine bikes you will understand the 848 Evo.
The bike vibrates a lot, it's fairly comfortable except for the wrist angle, feels a bit more awkward than other SS I've ridden. It didn't handle well, it felt very finicky in the twisties. My buddy and I both had one as rentals and both bikes did this. The vibrations usually calm down above 6-7k on most twins I've ridden/read about, but this one vibrates all the way to the top. Kind of annoying. Feels like I'm hurting it. The bike was pretty fast though. and it looked great.
Personally in the end, I feel like the bike is all looks.
2008 R6 - This bike does a lot VERY well. Smooth shifting, up and down, effortless clutchless down and up shifting, smooth throttle, smooth handling, pretty much a fantastic riding experience for me. It is a bit wider / taller than my GSXR so it is a little bit more challenging for me to ride as a short rider, but I found it comfortable once I knew how it took to inputs and the clutch grab point etc. Overall I wish Yamaha had an R8 or something like that with power like the GSXR, as the low/mid end on the R6 is somewhat lacking, though not an issue if you cruise around at 7-8k rpm.
