Just recently got my bike and trying to reach out to the people who have modified the performance of the bike and was wondering how much power I can get out of it
for lams, just install the full power kit.Just recently got my bike and trying to reach out to the people who have modified the performance of the bike and was wondering how much power I can get out of it
For a 470 pound bike, the generic answer is to spend money on a bike with the performance you want -- versus plowing a lot of time and money for small incremental bump on your existing ride.Just recently got my bike and trying to reach out to the people who have modified the performance of the bike and was wondering how much power I can get out of it
Technically you can change all the internals you want but you will never see any major gains without a ram air intake. For a 470 pound bike, the generic answer is to spend money on a bike with the performance you want -- versus plowing a lot of time and money for small incremental bump on your existing ride.
But if you seriously are the type to dig into an engine -- someone will post a link or the details. It can be done. I think it's cams from the FZ6 and something from the R6, don't quote me on that ...
I can vouch for the full Marthy! Not running fz6 exhaust cam, but have intake and every other upgrade. Power is noticeably higher and sounds great! Martin is the man! With the "Marthy ultimate package" LOL You can go from 67 to about 84HP... give & take. Does get a huge gain right from 4K and pull really good up to 12K.
The FZ6 cams is a bit challenging if you never did it but the result is very respectable.

I did in deed.84whp?
So I'm assuming you have done extensive testing and have dyno charts. It should be mandatory to include that info after making a sales pitch like this.

He has dyno'd and others that have done those mods as well. I haven't dyno'd ,but I'd bet I'm pushing those numbers. Gonna try to get a proper dyno tune this season if I can come up with the cash. I will definitely post numbers on here.84whp?

I didn't have to degree my cam gears (Marthy had already done that part). Just had to make sure timing was set properly when taking old off and installing new. After doing it more than once it's not too hard. If Marthy could walk you through the degreeing I could probably help with the install. I have pretty good instructions somewhere on here. I used a Marthy guide for checking valve clearance to get me most of the way there and some guidance from the legend Marthy himself. I check posts on here from time to time, but no one is ever on anymore. Very rarely do I see a familiar name on here anymore. Hopefully when riding picks up people pop on more.Marthy and Scott Thomas, good to hear those names again! I've been scarce these past 6 months or so since my wife and I had a baby and winter set in for the Washington DC area.
I was SO CLOSE to doing the cam mod. I hear it's amazing and really wakes the bike up. 84hp to the wheel. Even the Honda CBR 600rr makes 99hp engine horse or something like that. That's pretty close!
I decided I won't take on the task myself. I don't have much money now with the baby and don't trust myself to do the mod without screwing up. I'm handy, but never timed an engine or cam. Read the how to but just don't trust me. However, I'd love to get this mod done. Maybe I can pay Scott to do it for me.....
I bought Marthy's cams that were on his bike. His ex was learning to ride and he had his new bike so took the Fz6 cams out. It's just FZ6 cams mounted to the FZ6R cam gear. I chopped my box and replaced my vstacks with all short vstacks. Bought a cheap used airbox and took the short vstacks from it. You will need a machine shop to make the fz6 cam fit onto the FZ6R cam gear. None of that is super expensive and if you get the stuff from ebay gradually until you have everything you won't lose riding time. I have the Marthy FZ6 cam base map. I want to go get a dyno tune, just need to find a place and see how much. Should add a few hp through better tune.Well, I supposed I'll start looking for spare parts then!! eBay here I come!! Iirc, you sent FZ6 and FZ6R cams to Marthy to setup for you to make the install easier?
I don't need to add the intake runners to the airbox and new throttle body right? Just the new cams, chopped airbox, and new Marthy tune will set me straight, correct?
The cams/gears need to be degreed which I don't have any experience with. It doesn't look super hard and Marthy would be the best person to explain it. I thought I was going to have to degree mine so I was researching it pretty hard.Well, I supposed I'll start looking for spare parts then!! eBay here I come!! I'm gonna start buying parts now. You or someone else said they got all cams and machining for like $150. I can't find any FZ6R cams under $100, but I'll keep my eyes open for a sweet deal  FZ6 are cheaper thankfullyI bought Marthy's cams that were on his bike. Yeah, unless your in a hurry, just search it out and wait for a good deal. I actually did a head swap on my bike and got a great deal for a head with less miles. If you check daily over a period of time you'll eventually find a great deal. Not sure where else besides ebay you could look.I'm gonna start buying parts now.
