Missing piece from brake lever

So i was just riding along the other day and all of a sudden run over something metal, assumed it was just some debris and ignored it. Later that day i noticed that on the brake side lever that it looked different. I thought it might just be the little bracket that comes with levers, whats your opinion?

I don't have stock levers any more, but I'm not sure I see anything missing from that pic

Mine looks the same, though the lip bit is ground down square with the main piece on mine.

Thanks guys. I was stumped at first but looks like its all there.

Thought that area between the lever and switch was missing something but its not.
