I'm serving (Army) in Northern VA just a hop and skip away from Maryland, but my bike is in Florida, might bring it up this way in a month or so. Just to dangerous I say on I-95 for a new rider.

When Im on 95 I keep my head on a swivel, there are a ton of distracted drivers! Im always watching cars to see if they recognize I'm there or not, if not I stay back in case of lane change. As long as you dont to agressive or greedy you should be ok!

If you bring your bike up let me know, we will have to hit the streets!

I'm in Annapolis/Crofton area, don't have my bike yet. Hopefully this week. Then I'll be needing my license/MSF course.
