Lubricating Cables

So I haven't seen many threads/options on how to properly lube our control cables. After reading a few different things online I came across this really neat/simple tool to do the job.

EZ Glider Cable Lubrication

Pretty cool little tool and its not nearly as expensive as buying a cable tool...I'm buying one as we speak, I'll let everyone know if it works well.

Always wanted to do that. Yamaha said 4K, I tough I read 40K...lol

EDIT: Just ordered a kit...

Honestly, by the time this had come out... I already had a bottle of DriSlide... I've been using it every since, almost 50K miles and no issues, but since I have that mileage, I will be adding new cables to my maintenance list this year. I can only imagine they are stretched a bit, but so far, no binding and no fraying.

I did mine with the straw that came on the can, and a couple rags to keep down the spraying of lube everywhere (that's what she said(?)) and it worked fine _without_ removing the cables or even taking them out of adjustment. It's easy on our bike, just put a little thought into the mechanisms you're working on and watch for it to start coming out the other end of the cable housing...:thumbup:

Yea I figured it wouldn't be an issue with other ways, just saw this a while back and thought it was a nifty idea, especially since yamaha recommends using oil to lubricate the cables so its a win win situation.

Got mine in the mail today, only took 4 days to get here! Anyways I love this thing, my clutch is soo much smoother now and the throttle is as well.

Got mine today. From the mail box to the clutch able in 2 minutes! LOL Great product! I'll do the throttle later on today. I have a short list of things to do on my ride... mid oil change quick inspection and plug change.

Just remove the cover under the throttle. You will have access to the cable.

I mioght be able to do this for you next week when I free up a bit assuming you pay for original purchase as well as the second shipping from me to you also?

Haven't put a lot of miles on mine, but lube is always a good idea especially if riding in bad weather a lot or living near ocean. I gotta pick me up one of these lube kits.
