I was hit by a van today!

Insurance adjuster is saying it's 5K in damages! So KBB says $4.8K retail. Anyone else know where I can get some estimated values for my bike?

It's 09 with 5900 Miles in excellent shape. The sig tells the rest!

Id go to a dealer if you know them well, and ask them to write you a fictitious but believable value for your bike on trade. People do it all the time with cars at body shops.

Yep, I understand that if the repair costs is within 75% of the value than it is a total loss.

Which in my case is a good thing, because I want to buy from them and repair it (assuming the engine is still good).

My Heavens,,this is the first timeI have read about your accident. I am very sorry about your 6R but,,, I am quite glad that you are some what "OK". To bad that your beautiful 6R will probably written off.. I always loved that blue color. I always get nervous riding and older people cross the intersection in front of me and may not see me. Thanks, it certainly could've been worse. I'm doing quite well considering the circumstances.

They said they were going to give me $6K, which is exactly what I paid new for my bike last August. I owe $4.5K to the bank for the bike. If I buy it back from the insurance company I will break even.

That means I will have to repair it, but after repairs I will have nothing left to pay!

Sorry to hear about your incident, i'm glad you're ok! Just keep in mind that there's a good chance your bike will never run the same after you fix it back up.
So while fixing it and being debt free is enticing, be prepared.

Thanks, I realize that and worse case I part it out on eBay.

Fortunately the pickup for the timing wheel was the first thing damaged which means the engine shut down immediately, so I really doubt there is any serious damage.

I just ordered the parts today ($150), so I should find out next week.

Glad you are ok after all that mishap. Hopefully the lady will pay more attention before she decides to run someone else over. Do you ride with your brights on during the day? I found that it helps alot. I haven't been riding very long but people seem to act like a magnet or idiots during rush hour.
