I haven't removed ours, but after googling this I can say the r1 and r6 both have the same issue.The area with the tabs that hit are actually a sub assembly that you can remove from the fuel pump.Just google "removing r6 fuel pump" and you'll see what I'm saying.It looks like people also file down the tabs some so they can remove it easier in the future.I'm trying to get my gas tank powder coated but I seem to can't get the fuel pump out. It gets half way till a small size tab gets in the way. It doesn't look like it serves a purpose at all. I'm so irritated that I might just cut it off but talk me out of it. Thanks
