So i recently picked up my FZR6 for 4800$ its a 2013 with only 8900 miles on it, its got a leo vince full system exhaust on it already and a KN air filter.. wanted to add some extra power and was wondering what the best way about doing that would be, I am considering getting a power commander for it

Refer to the weight reduction thread, reducing the bikes weight and your own weight will gain you more power then any other mod, or at least anythig worth while. These bikes dont make a lot of power and in general arent worth the money to get them to make more power, they simply arent designed for it, they are not super sport bikes.
FZ6 cams
FZ6 throttle bodies (doing that now)
power commander or remap - theres a bloke in brazil that does it, racebike remap.
If your not worried about top speed lower the gearing.
Agree! FZ6 cams are probably the cheapest/Hp improvement mod per $$$ you can make. I personally didn't bother going with the FZ6 throttle body because the mid range gain was so amazing that I never bother going for the few more extra peak HP. If peak HP is what you want then FZ6 throttle is the way to go. The tricky part it to time the cams right... you can gain or loose big time if not done right. On top of my head I have...

Use this bike to commute, buy a faster bike. The bike is a de-tuned gen 2 R6 for a reason (Beginner/Intermediate). Not going to break any records without spending big bucks.

Is it simply plug and play? I mean pull the old cams out and replace with fz6 cams? What about fitment and shim adjustments? And also, does the engine have to be tuned after?
Really interested...I always upgrade cams in my cars. Didn't know it was possible in the fz6r.
3rd this! Definitely the best bang for the buck, especially if you change to fz6 throttle bodies and get a proper tune. I didn't do the throttle bodies yet, but I will and need a good tune to get the most out of it. Marthy's cam map is good until I get a dyno tune. This mod is not for the faint of heart. It isn't super difficult, but it requires some research and decent mechanical skills. Plus machining for the cams. Need to have them slotted to mate with the 6R cam gears.
Full/open exhaust, fz6 throttle bodies (because hey why not while you're in there), fz6 cams and throw in the timing trigger mod, airbox mod (because hey your bike is already apart) and add a PC5 if you don't have one. I have a decent base map for fz6 cams with airbox mod and open exhaust. Dyno tune will get the most out of this mod. Most people that dyno checked their bikes (without tuning) jumped from 67 rwhp to 80-85. Might not seem like a huge gain, but it is when you look at weight to hp ratios. It's a significant difference while riding it. Not too expensive either since you already have an exhaust. The cams and throttle bodies can be bought cheap on ebay. Machining may run you a little bit, but still a very cheap bang for the buck mod. Not easy in any sense, but between Marthy's throttle body sync guide and my step by step from my tear down it isn't super difficult. Timing the cams is the only thing I didn't have to do since I bought mine from Marthy and they were already machined for the 6R.

If you are mechanically incline, this is relatively easy. Timing the cam right can be a b*&^@! but it make the whole difference. Bellow 4K but bike is kind of flat but not that much worst than stock. From 4K on it pull very good and scream until red line (peak HP around 10250RPM). The exhaust cam is sort of spot on the oem timing mark (105 deg.). The intake cam need to be advance 2-3 degree. The cam gear need to be slotted (+/- 1 degree per 0.008") (102 deg) Slot the crank trigger gear 0.020" (+/- 3 degree) to advance the timing. Airbox mod and as far as throttle body goes, I was happy with the FZ6Rs one. The mid range was mind blowing to I didn't care much to dig the few more ponies at 10000 rpm. Get a good dyno tune and you have a new bike. Sort of how the bike should have been delivered from factory

So when y'all say use FZ6 cams, are you meaning the camshaft, and there are just 2 of them? I've heard this term hundreds of times in my life but never knew what it meant.
Switching the stock fz6r cams with the FZ cams, then doing a dyno tune can raise rear HP to about 85? Any particular year FZ6 cams or does that matter? Or, is this mod best to do at the same time as an exhaust overhaul to get the most out of it?
