Helmet Lovin'

My helmet is gross; i don't think it should be different colours.
I've read some different things about cleaning the pads and linear; what does everyone do to clean their gear? Is it really fine just to let it soak in soapy water and can I put it in the dryer on a rack?

I would read the directions for your individual helmet. Each may be different.

I just hand wash them and air dry.

Yeah, some helmets the padding comes out and some don't. If it doesn't I would prolly hand wash it and let it air dry. Finding the instructions would be the best bet.

I have a set of new cheek pads for when my RF1100 gets smelly/grungy.

I think it was around $40?

I dunno about washing pads and that padding they use in there. It seems to me as if doing so would make that material flake off eventually. But I can't say I've done it so I do not know.

I have snowboarding goggles that have a similar padding. From sweat, and water, I have found that after some time you get that flaking effect.

I hit it with a shot of Febreze once a month and let it dry. That seems to work, but then again I don't find myself really sweating too much in mine either.
