most of what we wanted it for is small design validation and if we do on occasion need bigger, we can cut the parts and glue them together. Considering the last part we had quoted for prototype was $1700... this pays for itself after a few prints... this was only $3k... next step up goes to $10k...
and no robot girls in the making... lol

Crying shame, isn't that why these things were invented?
we design products that monitor/collect weather and water data... so this is mostly for enclosures/brackets/etc. most the times, stuff we get in R&D become sales demos, now we can print them and have them in hand overnight instead of waiting 4-6 weeks or paying an arm and a leg to get them in in a week.

We have a huge 3D printer at work. I work in a foundry that casts aluminum and magnesium engine components for aircraft. We use it to make parts of the moulds for the castings. It's super cool tech. I am trying to get transferred to that section of the plant because I find it fascinating how it works.
