Need Help Fz6r fork issue maybe?

Heh everyone I'm new to bikes and just passed my msf anyways I got a bike now and well I noticed when I hit a hole or a bump I hear a slight thud noise it sounds like it's from the fork area. How do I check the fluid? Also what tools should I get besides a stand and sockets?

Before tearing it apart check your rear spring and make sure it isn't too hard [close to 7]. On regular street you want it on soft [closer to 1].
The front needs to be in balance with the rear spring. Give that a try first.
If problem persist get a flashlight and look at the front of the bike real slow amd all over near the front wheel. Any scuffs will show if it's rubbing on anything when it returns to its normal position.

What he said. Goodle how to set sag on a motorcycle. Measure the front first then adjust the rear to match, should be in the 40mm range but most important it need to be the same number front to rear. Racetech have kits for the 6R and most important you can check what spring rate you need for your weight. The front springs were ok for me at 175lbs, I added few washers to compress the spring under the top cap to get 38-40mm. The rear spring is on the soft side but #6 get me 40mm sag. So I left it there, good enough for what I need.

If your bike is few years old I'll consider a front fork rebuilt, at the minimum change oil. I use 10W oil on mine. To check the level you need the fork off the bike, springs out and all the way down, compress. You measure the fluid level from the top of the tube. I can't remember the number on top of my head right now but it should be in the 150-130mm window (FZ09 was 130)
