Fuel pump whine

I have may have just not noticed it before, but my fuel pump seems to whine quite frequently. About a 22 months ago I broke the throttle and handle bar, then let the bike sit for a year before fixing it last September. I rode it a little bit before winter kind of made it unpractical. Come spring I started to ride it again whenever I had to go somewhere further than a couple miles. This is when I started to notice that the fuel pump whines rather loudly. It's most apparent during idle, and low speed riding.

Is this normal, or indicative of a new pump soon?

Oh yeah, bike has 21700 miles on it.

there is always a slight whine... but to be safe, if it sat for that long, try running some sea foam through it a couple of times... will get any gunk out of the system that could be restricting the fuel flow.
