Front end swap

ive seen a thread from some guy in alabama that was going to switch out his front end with an '02 r6, and some other with an 2005 fz6, but that was years ago and the users last activity was when they posted it.

im just wondering if its possible to switch it out ( not a big fan of that single headlight, although i love it on the fz8 [my next bike] ) by just removing, cutting and fitting plastics

or would you have to get a whole new triple tree, frame, etc. resulting in the cost of basically buying an fz6?

The early R6 and FZ6 used 43mm tubes, the 6R uses 41mm tubes. You'll need a new triple clamp set up. I assume an FZ6 set up will work. You need to check the steer stem length to make sure they are the same. On the FZ6 site there are a zillion threads on the R6 fork mod.
