Engine cover scratched and gear shift pedal bent.

Hey guys and gals,
I was going around a round about tonight and the engine cover is scratched up pretty bad and the gear shift pedal is bent. I'm just wondering what I should do. Any help is appreciated

Bend the shift lever back using a small pole, then paint the scratch to the cover using some engine enamel.

I dropped it going around the round about. The back end slid from under me.

Thanks flying minno. Will the damage on the engine cover affect my bikes performance? Sorry, I'm a brand new rider.

If the scratches are purely aesthetic, and there is no oil leaking from the area, then you're golden.

Just lightly sand it, prime it with metal primer and put a couple coats of enamel on it. All repaired with a few dollars worth of rattle cans.

I had a similar mishap, and rode with the same cover for over 30,000 miles before I sold the bike.

I agree with flyingminnow. If the scratches are just surface scratches you may be able to sand and repaint with high temp paint. The shift lever should be able to be bent back. If not shouldn't be much for a new one. Do you have pics of the damage? Is it the stator that got scratched? Usually is when the bike goes down.
