Hey all looking at blue tooth headsets and wondering if anyone has the cardo scala headset.

Have them as well and love them as well. Great for 2 people. Never tried 3 which is the maximum.

I have them as well, using 3 of them, the main person has to switch between channels. So in other words, all 3 people can not talk to each other at the same time. it's like 1->2, 2->1 or 1->3 and 3->1. Persons 2 and 3 can not talk to each other at all (kinda sucks).

Why not get a helmet with built in bluetooth?

because then you have to buy one for the person you want to talk to

You get more and better options if you just buy a regular helmet. You can easily add bluetooth to any helmet anyway.

I have the Q2 and I like it.

There are some slightly annoying things about it though. When you stop talking to your passenger it takes about 30 seconds for the set to close down.

Mine does not parter up with my phone. Which is not a problem because I prefer it that way.

It does not pair up with my Tom Tom GO either so I use the MP3 wire to link it up and it works fine.

The sound quality of the MP3, built in radio and when talking is good. Straight line distance is probably more than the 500metres stated. Once they are out of sight, you will lose the signal.

Finding a list of which phones and GPS will pair up with the Q2 is very hard to find.

We have just been riding for 4 days without charging the units and they were just beginning to fade a bit at the end.

The best bluetooth comms kit we have had so far.

I particularly like the radios.

Steve

You can close the link by hitting the talk button again. I have to do that because my wife's helmet is a ltitle noisey and keeps the link open.

Put a chin screen on her helmet and have her ride with the visor closed. My wife's helmet is the same.

Steve is right... 500 meters line of sight? I believe it will go closer to 600 to 625 with no objects between you. Out of sight, no talking.

Survived the *extreme* water test!

We rode for a total of 11+ hours with open comms before the batteries died. Shame on us for not charging them that last night because they died about 10 miles into a 90 mile trip.

I really have no complaints!

I just bought a set for the GF and myself. SO far, they are excellent. Attempted to used the midland closed helmet kit with GMRS radios, but too cumbersome and poor quality. These are more money, but night and day in terms of voice quality and cordless convenience.

Word of warning to all with these setups. Those little brass contacts break off VERY easily. I will post a pic later tomorrow. I must have snagged it on the towel I was using to wipe down my lid...SNAP...didn't see it happen, but Its more or less a paper weight now. :(
