I've done it a few times in this state but it's a tricky mess as I don't want to get nailed with a ticket and my days of doing stupid things like considering running from the cops are long over.

Signed. I rely so heavily on lane-splitting every day, from stop&go on the i5 to all the stop lights getting backed up on my commute to work and being able to slip up to the front. All you guys (and girls) in the other states deserve this.

edit: ALSO! people don't get that you're allowed to in Cali. there was a chevy the other day blocking bikers from lane-splitting on the freeway by pulling to the right when one approached (i was in a car). I was so angry but all I could do was give them a rude gesture.
