bike redlines at 1/4 - 1/2 throttle ?

hey bike seems to have a really short throttle range and will redline just a little past 1/4 throttle. i dont really notice unless i think about it, but it makes me nervous that i might accidentally pull to much throttle or something lol

It will redline in neutral with 1/4 throttle? I'm not clear what you're saying is happening exactly.

yes. but when im driving in first i only have to slowly twist the throttle 1/4 before its redlining

Is this your first manual transmission? Its a really short and torquey gear. Only takes a small bit of throttle to accelerate is the lower gears and it doesnt take much to reach redline.
