I agree with this fully.. I check the wx and if needed I just drive the car/truck if it looks and sounds like a good chance of rain. I would recommend also keeping the bike and just use it as a pleasure toy on the weekends for a little while when you get the itch to ride. Maybe eventually you will find that you want to ride to work once in a while again too.Not everyone is going to get into riding a bike rain or shine. I sometimes enjoy the miserable days as much as the beautiful days. Maybe I'm just a masochist.
I also have the option of taking my cage, if it's raining when I leave, or too cold for my layers and gear. I say hold on to the bike for a little while and enjoy your new car and the benefits it offers. Then when you feel the urge to ride, you'll be able to, and will likely enjoy the heck out of since it will be by choice and not necessity.
Most rider's are what I'd call "Fair Weather Riders." They ride when the weather is agreeable and they feel like going for a ride. They don't put a ton of miles on their bike, they just ride for fun. There's nothing wrong with that.
You dont want to sell it after having it setup fully for what you want. Then in say 6 months or next spring you start seeing bikes on the road and get upset because you dont have it anymore. Then need to possibly spend more money buying another bike if the itch is bad enough.. Just buy some new fresh non-ox gas, put Stabil or equivalent in and hook up the battery tender, maybe change oil.. then you are good to go when the desire hits you.
