I am thinking about doing exhaust i would be doing marthys with a power commander. Also do you need the block off plates if the popping doesnt bother you ?

This is my issue and please put me in my place if i am wrong. Does doing this mod change the durability or longevity of the motor ? transmission? My problem is i would like to get 60,000-70,000 miles out of this bike minimum with proper care is doing a mod like this ruin my ability to reach this? Does it really affect anything negatively

Sorry if this is a stupid question but its my only transportation me and my wife have (other then her car) So if it goes down basically im out of luck

I am no bike mechanic but IMHO I don't think you will have anything to worry about especially with as you said "proper care". I have an exhaust an JB on my bike, block off plates as well. Not to mention there are many others on here with exhaust and PCV and block off plates. Marthy is one of them and he has quite a few miles on his bike and it runs great. I really don't think you have anything to worry about, as long as you do routine maintenance.

Put it this way you treat her right and she and she will treat you right and give you plenty of miles.

My wife just got a Ninja 250 and, after reading about the bike on their forum, some guy installed an exhaust without rejetting, ran 45 minutes on the highway at 10,000rpms and blew his engine from leaning out.

There's a right way and a wrong way to do things. Just
do it the right way.

Yeah I figured great videos by the way one off the reasons I have considered it

One more thing from your video when installing the PCV taking off the fuel lines did you do this on a empty tank or pinch the line some how to block fuel i have the tools to do the install yet i have to do it in a parking lot.

I was really surprised. I pulled the lines off expecting a ton of fuel and only got some dribble. First time pulling the tank on my first bike I ended up with at least a gallon of gas on myself and my driveway.

Just to be safe, I would use a locking vice grip or similar to block the hose FIRST, then pull, then open towards a drain can like I did. Also, it's a good idea to take pics and/or mark the hoses and ports with masking tape and label. That way, you make sure the right hoses go back in the right places.

Okay cool. I well hopefully have the full amount saved up by the end of october so im gonna fish for a great deal on a pcv till then and get with marthy about the exhaust when i have the cash.

If you're looking for AIS block off plates, may I suggest these?

Yamaha Smog Block Off Plates R1 R6 FZ1 FZ6 | eBay

The FZ6R isn't listed specifically, but they'll fit our bike perfectly fine. These are the ones I installed last year with no issues, and they are cheaper than the Graves or any others I could find for that matter.
In a change of events I might be able to buy the exhaust first gonna be selling my kayak since I don't use it then save the 300 for pcv

Did you use your exhaust from your bike or did you buy another header from a different one to use cause i use my bike as a commuter and gonna have to buy one first(exhaust) then the PCV later no longer then a month obviously not installing till i have both.

I bought someone else's oem and had them chop and ship to Marthy for about $100. Holding onto my oem in case I ever want to go back to stock. Kind of miss going fast almost silently... but now it sounds so good :)

Where did you find them for 100 :( i been looking for r6 and fz6r and its 150 plus for anything right now.

Marthy has atleast one core. I was worried about my bike being down too and he sent me out exhaust and as soon as i got mine in the mail, i swapped them and sent him my stock one back to him. exhaust sounds GREAT.

i got my pcv off ebay for like 279 + 10 shipping from indysuperbikes. best deal i could find. then bought the driven block off plates for 35 off ebay but i wasnt sure if the cheaper ones fit and after getting the driven ones, the cheap ones look dead on minus the anodizing.

lastly, you asked about exhaust without block off plates, i went a few days with exhaust on before I installed my pcv and block off plates because i was still waiting for one of them in the mail and with the db killer in the viper can I heard no backfire(but i do wear a helmet) it wasnt till i took the db killer out that i heard back fire after installing the block offs but its very minimal.

Anyone want to buy my db killer????? it wont be going back on :)

Thats the differnce between carb and FI...our bikes uses a computer to adjust the amount of fuel and timing required to adjust to an exhaust system
