LMAO!!! I take it you guys aren't actual touring folk? ADVrider.com... LOL!! I said I wanted to set up this bike for touring, I have been to guatemala 2x's.. on bikes. I want to make a run to San Paulo, I just don't think this bike will make it because of the off road, I am still trying to get better tires. but oh well. We will see.
love reading the advrider.com stuff... those guys do amazing stuff...
and Nick Sanders is heads above a lot of the guys there..
??? How many of them are on an R1? That's where he started.... I know, there are a few these days who have taken the SS and upgraded them to adventure tourers... but Nick was an early adopter, and is now leading insane world record breaking tours... only reason I brought up the topic.
I'm not at the adv level yet.. someday maybe... but with four kids, a job and commitments, I just can't dis-appear for weeks at a time to do those types of tours. I do like reading them and do sneak out on the weekends, but that's my limit for now... so, do enjoy reading the blogs and stories of guys who can.
Don't care for his time keeping at all. On his around the world "sprint", he didn't count time off the bike. Kinda makes the claim and (Guinness record) a bit bogus. All the Iron Butt guys were laughing at it, but they all had to admit he does a great job promoting himself.
When he starts the clock at the beginning of his ride and doesn't stop the clock until he's completed the ride, THEN I'll believe his times. Until then, he's just another dodger.
