A day of mixed emotions

To my fellow Canadians I want to say HAPPY CANADA DAY! :canada:

This is Canada's 143rd birthday and the whole country is celebrating.

This is however a national day of mourning here in Newfoundland..... we were infact our own country up untill 1949 when we joined the great Dominion of Canada and the first of July marks the day when over 700 brave young Newfoundlanders paid the supreme sacrifice in the Battle Of Beaumont Hamel.

So as we celebrate this great country of ours please pause a moment to remember them and the freedom they bought us.
