you don't need a new chain.. your stock chain size is perfect for -1 front and +2 rear sprocket.. I know this as i have done it myself on my ex-fz6r. btw.. i have mine Driven -1 and +2 sprockets for sale..very slightly used.. let me know if you are interested. And yes it does makes take-offs...

If it was me I would just sell the 6R and keep DRZ, I don't think there is any reason to upgrade to another bike for on/off road fun. DRZ is a great package, yes changing to Avon Distanzia would be correct choice as you already know that SM have street tires and are not meant for off roads. DRZ...
