Sounds like a 'weak' battery. Not enough current to drive starter, and the starter relay is 'trying' to close.

Here is the 'orientation' of the connectors to the fuel pump...

The Red / Blue wire and Black wire go to power the fuel pump. The Green / White and Black wire go to the fuel sensor. (blacks go to ground).

There are several points to check out. There is a radiator fan relay, activated by the ECU, that supplies power to the fan motor. There is a Coolant temperature sensor that feeds information to the ECU. Assuming you are seeing those temps on your display, the Temp sensor seems okay, to the ECU...

Rather than cut yours down, look at zero gravity, as they have a range of windscreens for the FZ6R, (many on E-bay, or elsewhere). Find one that is shorter, bolt it on. It will be cleaner than a cut down screen... unless you have a buffer wheel to smooth the cut edge, which will be rough, and...

If you own a voltmeter, simply test the connection from the 'brake line' with a meter, to make certain voltage is getting to the wire you believe is the brake line. If it is, the problem is your tail assembly or 'bulb' in the tail assembly. If you are not getting voltage to that wire, first...
