    FZ6r Too Heavy Question

The weight of the 6r is competitive with the other bikes in its class. The issue for me was that the it's top-heavy, which means that you have to catch it sooner if it starts to tip. Here's a vid that shows how to pick it up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84YfDGKA4Og

    Harbor Freight rear stand?

I used the Harbor Freight stand for 5 years and never had any problems with it. A few months ago, the front & rear Trackside stands went on sale for 29.99 + tax + shipping (retail was 99.99), so I bought both and stepped up for spools. Being made from steel. they're really solid and give me a...

    Quieter helmet?

I agree with some of the points made in previous posts as I've found that there's a lot more to consider than just finding a quieter helmet. My RF-1100 got quieter when I replaced the Yamaha double-bubble windscreen with a Puig racing screen because of reduced turbulence around my head. It got...

    I made the switch...

You're right - the riding position makes a difference in corners. The rest comes from the better suspension, the CBR's 55 lb weight advantage and lower center of gravity that eliminates the top-heavy feel of the 6r. Congrats! You made a great choice.

    Extended Warranty question

In looking at it from a financial standpoint, the initial thought is usually $690 is a lot of money. However, when you break it down, you're looking at $14.38/month for the 48 months of extra coverage you're getting. Another thing you might consider is to buy cheaper it online - you don't have...

Didn't think about checking the chain slack - got lucky

This post is a heads-up for those who don't do regular chain inspections... I never had an issue w/ chain slack on my fz6r. The chain was checked every 4000 miles during oil changes and was adjusted 3 times in 15,000 miles. I ride the gixxer harder. It had less than 3000 miles and the chain...

    Scorpion EXO T1200

I bought one today to replace my RF-1100. I rode 110 miles south to Cal Coast Motorsports in Ventura (closest dealer that stocks Scorpion) to try it on. It was a great day - 70+ degrees, open road over San Marcos Pass, and 25 miles along the coast, then back. I wanted a plain black one, but...

Going to a lower sidewall question

If you're serious about lowering the CG, you can remove weight from the top of your bike. The easy fixes are to remove the passenger grab bar, replace the stock battery w/ a lithiom ion battery, remove the fairings, and keep the fuel level low. Here's the link to the weight reduction list. Some...
