One thing not yet mentioned. This time of year some states allow alcohol to be added to the fuel and that will reduce the milage that you may see. Just saying... notice it here in CA every winter with my cars and the bikes.

I've done 600 miles in one day on my 6R. My @ss was done by the end of the day. I purchased the comfort seat after that and it is a little better. Also don't forget to adjust the seat to the higher setting if it isn't already there. I have gotten as much as 60+ mpg out on the freeway at 70-75 so...

Yes, I have ridden on of these. I took my 1150RT in for service and they gave me one as a loaner. It had a lowered seat and was very easy to balance. It also has a peppy engine and wide bars so it is easy and fun to ride. It also gets great milage. I would be surprised if she didn't like it...

Yep, my thoughts exactly. Ethanol added to the gas in winter makes your mileage go down.

I have never riden an R1. I have put my butt in the seat and they are just too agressive for my taste. I did own a first gen FZ-1. It was a fantastic bike. My friend has a gen 2 FZ-1 and it is more agressive than the gen 1 bike but way more comfortable than the R1. I guess if you don't want to...

I guess that depends....If you are riding around town it's suicide! If you are out in the great wide open....probably not. Just remember it will significantly slow down your reaction time in an emergency. I'd hate to hit a rabbit one handed!

That's what I did. I got the Yamaha rack from a dealer in Vancouver, Canada and used the Yamaha top box I had for my T-Max. If I don't want it on I just pop it off.
