The suspension really looks like a step up for the price range. Should be fun in the twistys.

I like naked bikes too, but this doesn't sit quite right with me. I can't even really put my finger on why I think it's ugly. Take it over a street triple? Not unless everyone raves about the performance of the bike.
On paper other than the small fuel tank, the bike is a 10! The look is absolutely lovely until you get in the last foot of the tail end. 414 lbs with a boat anchor exhaust... that will easy brake under the 400 lbs with a "proper Marthy exhaust" LOL Look a bit too upright for me for a naked bike, but that's a cheap fix. I can tell right away that they will sell a $hit load of FZ1 handlebars!
Is this a nice bike? YES Does it grow on me a bit? YES Do I like it more than the FZ8 or FZ1... not yet. For me the FZ8 look way more polish and the FZ1... just pure madness HP!

Other than the obvious very good power and reasonable weight of the FZ09, the ergos seems fantastic to me. More leg room and higher bars, set up great for commuting and touring.
I rode the Ninja 1000 a couple years ago and I did love the power...really great "get up and go," but it was very buzzy....deal breaker for me. Assuming that the FZ1 is not buzzy like that, I am certain that would love it, but I would still prefer more upright ergos.
Check out the stats on the distance to foot pegs and bars and you'll see what I am referring to with respect to the FZ09.

Reading about it for specs and pricing, I would love to get one.. ONLY thing keeping me from trading in on one is that it is missing atleast a partial fairing and windscreen.
To make it do able for me, I would need a fairing/windshield atleast similiar to the FZ1. That bike will not be one to take on the super slab or longer distance higher speed rides. You will tire relatively quickly.

I completely agree about the partial (bikini) fairing and a short windscreen, but I am hopeful that such an option becomes available in the years ahead....will be very tough for me not to pull the trigger if/when that happens.

I wonder what the range is with that tank... That does seem a little on the small side.
Not to hijack the thread, but every time I watch some bike building show; they always put some great big twin engine on the thing with a some teeny-tiny gas tank. I often wonder, do they just ride these bikes from gas station to gas station??
I test rode the 2012 FZ1 just under 2 wks ago, unfortunately my video has music instead of comments because the wire popped out of the connector (new one should be in mail today). It was not buzzy at all. In terms of ride quality/smoothness it was JUST like the 6R. The difference being that it was obviously stronger and faster. Things I noticed on the FZ1:
*Weak on the low end, but once you hit 5-6k RPM you will shoot off like a missile! It was awesome!! LOL just a bit slower than the Ninja to get going at lights.
*Wind protection was pretty respectable. Better than I thought it would be with that windscreen.
*Foot pegs felt really high to me. At lights or stops I would try to put my feet back up and I missed the first few times because I was trying to put them where they are on the FZ6R and Ninja. As I rode I got used to it, but for me personally, to ride longer distances (say 60+ miles) I would need to get different rearsets or adapters to lower the footpegs. I would need these on the ninja also as my long legs bothered me on the Ninja because of the flaired gas tank. But tank on the FZ1 is almost just like the FZ6R.
*Other then the pegs, the ergos are great! Just like the 6R
Edit: Ninja 1k, I agree on Buzziness! around 5-6.5k RPM, I felt a large amount of vibration coming through the gas tank to my upper legs and some to my hands. You touch your toes to the brake pedal and you feel alot of vibration at almost all speeds. You feel some on the brake pedal on the 6R, but do get alot more on the Ninja 1k. This vibration is one of the things making me hold up on doing my trade in even though have a great deal on the Ninja and great trade in on my bike with them.. Wondering if I just want to wait, since I couldnt get fair final #s on the FZ1, and keep the 6R and add the FJR later as a 2nd bike to the garage. Use FJR as 2 up machine and FZ6R as my work daily commuter. That way the more $$ bike will last longer also!

I agree with everyone, this looks like its got some great performance advantages over our bike, however It is not to great looking and definitely needs a fairing version. Im curious as to how it would compare to the street triple which ive had the chance to ride a couple times.
