Clutch handle requires a lot of force

My clutch handle requires a lot of force to squeeze. I have a couple questions:

1. Is there any way I can adjust the force required to pull the clutch in without lubing the clutch cable?

2. If I have to lube the cable, what is the procedure for this? Do I have to remove the cable entirely? Do I have to use the lithium soap grease as written in the manual or should I use something else?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Let's say I have enough faith in my mechanical abilities to do it the normal way... what lube should I use?

DO NOT USE CHAIN LUBE ON YOUR CABLES.

Use a dry lubricant with PTFE in it. Chain lube will gunk up and make it worse. I speak from experience.

I got a can of 3-in-1 dry lube with PTFE for a whopping 7 dollars from my local cyclegear. It will last me a lifetime and made the clutch cable pull buttery smooth.

I wedged the clutch arm inward, and removed the cable from the lever, then sprayed it right down the gullet and manually pulled the cable in and out to get er worked in.
