drain

Hi guys, I'm going to change the oil and replace the drain bolt and washer. The washer it has some kind of step in one side, and the other side is flat. (photos). What side of the washer is facing the cranckcase cover? Thanks a lot!

anyone taken the glass from a mirror out of the enclosure? either on purpose or accident? I see a small hole on the underside, but it appears to just be a water drain hole. Im looking for a safe and repairable way to get it out but it's not obvious right away.
