    R1 awful exhaust sound...

I believe it's a love or hate thing. Personally, I absolutely love the sound of the cross plane crank exhaust. My current bike has a similar, unique and throaty exhaust note that I love. But I will admit, the inline 4's sound much better under high rpm stress; you can hear the difference...

    SoCal riders next group ride!

Just as a heads up, a lot of the off shoots from the 2 will likely have rocks on them, so it will mostly be an easy ride. Also, highway 2 connects to the 138, then to the 15 to those living south. You can just continue onto the 2 and hop right on the freeway if you so choose.

Engine cover scratched and gear shift pedal bent.

If the scratches are purely aesthetic, and there is no oil leaking from the area, then you're golden. Just lightly sand it, prime it with metal primer and put a couple coats of enamel on it. All repaired with a few dollars worth of rattle cans. I had a similar mishap, and rode with the...

Engine cover scratched and gear shift pedal bent.

Bend the shift lever back using a small pole, then paint the scratch to the cover using some engine enamel.

    recommended Top Cases

Well back when I had my 6R, I started rocking a top box early on for those very same reasons. I bought a rear rack and top case from TwistedThrottle, because they were the cheapest on the market in 2010 when I bought mine. I do believe they still sell the rack here Unfortunately the...

Coldest or hottest you have ridden in

Commuting today was beautiful, the thermometer in the bike displayed a cool 72 when I set off earlier!

Coldest or hottest you have ridden in

I'm sure some of our NorCal counterparts can easily top those lows, er undermine them ;) I do agree, maybe because of living in the heat I am just more able to adapt to it.

Coldest or hottest you have ridden in

Coldest for me was a couple years ago on the 6r, it was 27° in the AZ desert. The most warm was riding through Death Valley, head to toe gear to insulate me from the heat of 117°. To be honest, I cope better with the heat than the cold. I could always cool myself with water and shade, but cold...

Back to this thread eh? Just rolled over 15k with this new bike, bought in February this year. It's hard to keep off it!

Southern Cal stupidity and the Angeles Crest highway

I usually make a whole day of ACH. I take it from La Cañada, up to the 138, then across the 138 to Silverwood Lake. Then I take advantage of my bike and take another hour off road to the 15 freeway, then back home. I do love that road and can get lost in the curves for hours, especially now that...

For Sale - Tank Side Cover $30 (Right Side Only)

I've got one of the plastic pieces that sticks to the side of the tank sitting around. It was removed for painting the tank and is sitting here unused. The cover is for the RIGHT SIDE of the tank. I am looking to sell for $30. Being on the bike for a couple years, the piece looks in excellent...

    cruising rpms a bit high?

If you got your bike used, check to make sure the gearing was not changed by the previous owner. I changed the sprocket size in the rear to allow for more top end and comfortable cruising speed.

    tires and speed??

Compound is definitely a factor, but it could also be the tire itself is lighter, therefore less weight is having to turn when you give it some gas.

What did you do to your bike today?

Yeah, it was tough. I could have paid for faster shipping, but the costs were tremendous! So as long as you contact the guy who does the seat mods first, you can arrange to have a next day shipping to and from...at something like $200 one way. Lol!

What did you do to your bike today?

Haha well the stock seat on the Super Tenere is pretty awesome as it is But when I owned the FZ6R, I had to get the seat redone. I sent it to get "Spencer's Mod", Page 1 to redo the seat internals. It was amazing after that! I pulled off an 800 mile day from Colorado Springs to Las Vegas...

What did you do to your bike today?

Ah, that makes sense. A car will cut into your riding miles.
