Just did this, took about 2.5 hours. The biggest pain was putting all the hose clamps back on, my fingers are pretty numb after that (pliers work somewhat, but I had to use my fingers quite a bit). And, yeah, the rubber cover took a bit to get back in place as well.
Thanks for the write-up!
Johnson City (1-1.5hrs from Knoxville), so ~ 4 hours from there haha. Used to live near Jackson, in a town called Milan which was ~ 2.5 hours from Nashville.
A bit of a delay in responding, sorry about that :D.
Part #2:
So... I finally decided to fix a few things (forced fixed because I was an idiot and didn't tighten my ballast enough to the original position... It fell off when I parked it today :banghead:). Reopened the housing, SILICONED the shroud (it won't stay on without it), snipped the...
I had called ahead before I bought my bike and brought it home same day. First time riding it (and first ride after the MSF course). Took a few minutes to get used to, but riding it around Memphis before I drove it back home on the highway (1.5-2hr ride) made me more comfortable.
You...
Phew, that was a doozy. Here's a few pointers for anyone else looking to do this (in no particular order):
* The Astro shroud doesn't fit, bit snipping the top and bottom of the shroud's outer ring works.
* The HID holds up just fine in the oven when you're re-sealing it.
* Disassembly and...
Scala's Rider G4 works with iPhone music no problem. But I have to say that this device takes some time to get used to. I ride with 1-2 other people usually and we always had difficulty pairing. Got it down to a science now :D.
My first and current helmet is the Scorpion Exo 900 (hybrid). I rock a Scala Rider G4 (rider-to-rider communication, FM radio, bluetooth headset, music over bluetooth, etc) with it and love it.
A follow-up:
Although phone calls were worthless, the BBB has helped me solve this issue. Within a week I had a response and received a call today. They've refunded my entire overnight charges + related taxes.
I'm happy with the outcome.
I have to wait until the charges go through and then dispute them. In the meantime, however, I've submitted a complaint through the BBB. I'll keep trying whatever I can... They're at fault here: both my shipping and taxes increased by over 10% and they didn't contact me before shipping. It's...
Yeah... That's what I figured. It's more of a warning to you guys at this point. I'll complain to Amsoil a bit more, but I've accepted the loss here. Maybe I could complain to my card company and say that they took more then I authorized or something? I don't know...
The worse is this: I ordered the oil and then found a place that sold it locally. Instead of canceling this order, I ended up taking the attitude "screw it, I'll use it eventually."
Just a heads-up to you guys:
Amsoil.com does NOT provide shipping quotes on their site and (instead) they're "calculated after shipping." I'm a bit spoiled with Amazon and needed a gallon of oil quickly, so I chose overnight. Boy was that a mistake!
When I ordered my oil, I was quoted...
Actually, my mom got me into it. I had considered riding quite a few times, but never acted on it and put it off. She decided that she wanted a Harley and (when she bought it) they paid for MSF courses for her, my dad, me and my sister.
Definitely one of the best decisions I've ever made. Put...
Went to do the 600mi service today. Drained the oil and realized that my filter wrenches weren't gonna do the job this time. Since my dealer was closed, bought one at Walmart, which didn't work. Went back out and guessed which one would fit at AutoZone (they were useless, but whatever). Guessed...
Thanks guys for the assistance, ideas on how to cover it and kind words :D.
I just have to keep telling myself that I bought it for learning, so a scrape or two shouldn't annoy me as much as it does. Beer helps enforce this idea :P.
Amsoil 20w-50 claims the following:
Which I think is just awkward, but figured I'd ask you guys if this statement is valid I guess (especially for our bike)?
