Yeah that's the problem I have to sort now is trying to solder them back since I didn't leave enough slack. At least I know what's wrong. I think that's the most important takeaway from this.

This all makes so much sense now. I am facepalming myself so hard. Once you disconnect the bulb from the stock connector, the connector from the new light goes where the bulb used to doesn't it? I feel like a complete idiot now
