If your looking for more power I almost think you'd be better served by a super sport like a GSXR, CBR600RR or an R6 instead of trying to chase HP numbers with the 6R.
Don't get me wrong, I love my 6R but it wasn't designed to be a massively powerful machine. It was designed for a good usable...
I test rode the R3 at a demo day a couple of weeks ago, it was a lot of fun and feels so tiny compared to the FZ6R. Granted I'm also 6 ft 200 lbs

I've never measured it as I replaced mine with a Two Brothers full exhaust. Just speculating but I would think the pipe diameter could depend on where you cut the collector.
Someone who done that could better answer that question. I know the limit of my metal fabrication and welding skills...
Search is your friend but I'll answer anyways.
You could cut the stock exhaust after the collector where it meets the muffler/cat and weld on a section for a slip on.
That would be the only real way. You can also modify older R6 headers to fit but that also requires welding an extension as...
I really hope that's not the case (although I think it's inevitable). Twins lack the smoothness and soul of an inline 4. The inline 4 is one of the reasons I bought the FZ6R over the competition.

You are probably right, personally, I'm just not willing to take the chance. You never know what can happen if you get a bad tank of gas. Had that happen to a buddy with an RX-7 but that's an apples to oranges comparison.

The backfiring is a result of the clean air injection system injecting fresh air into the exhaust under deceleration and any remaining fuel detonating. To remove the backfiring you need to install block off plates for the air injection.

I believe MistahT is running a full exhaust, with a decatted bike, you'd risk leaning the motor out without the power commander.
The fact that you were able to hit the limiter a couple times makes me think it's some type of spark or wiring issue. Just my opinion though.
