Marthy Trunk/Soft Saddlebags Rack

I wasn't going to start a thread on this, but as a special request from my friend Roaddawg... there it is!

All nice and powder coated. It was suppose to be done by next Monday or Tuesday, but I had a surprise call this afternoon. So here's few pics.

The main pillar are made of 1.00" x .50" x .050" 4140 Chromoly. The 4 tabs that hook under the seat are 3/4" x 3/16" Steel and the saddlebags support are 3/8" bar that I bed by hand. I went a little over board for something that is rated for 22 lbs, but it's done. This rack as pass Marthy quality control (All of my 160 lbs on it!) the only thing that might give away is the frame flexing. Ah well, gotta start somewhere...

Do you think you could come up with one that would replace the passenger grab bar? I'd like to have something that would look good and be more practical. Maybe make it out of round tubing so it could be used as a grab handle /multi-point tie-down bar, with tabs to add or remove the saddlebag support brackets. That would be #1 on my 6r wish list. Thanks!

I don't have to use the original grab bar. I just left it there because I think it look better. I'm not sure what you mean... you want to replace the stock bar with something you can hook up stuff to it? Email me a drawing of what you would like... I might give it a shot?

Luggage rack production over the weekend. I'm making 3 complete rack with side luggage support (MotoCentric) Black powder coated. Should go to PC early Monday morning.

I slightly change the design. My first one was a bit over kill. I was putting all my weight on it and the frame was bending like crazy, not the rack. After all, the biggest Givi trunk is rated for 22 lbs...

Not sure about the price yet. I might try to have different options.

Just finish my first one. Took a little longer on this one. But it look nice. I made it a bit lighter then my first one with better support for the bags. Time consuming.... Ain't gonna count my time on those...

It looks like there is a bar running from saddlebags down towards the passenger peg or swing arm area. Am I seeing that right? does it rest against that area to prevent the saddle supports from bending under the seat or so?

Yes. I use the pin from the passenger pegs to give extra support.
